Short stems and people over a 100
So I finally moved up to a Mid bike. It's amazing. Swap the tires. I'm not sure I've given the xr3's a chance. But yeah.

A versatile bike and a great value, but a bit bulky
Great value, durable
heavy, bulky in tight situations, not available in 1x
For the price you pay, this is a great bike with some great components. It can take a hit, and eats up rough terrain while remaining composed. It's not the most capable climber, (esp. when compared to a hard tail), struggles a bit on tight turns, but if you only have room for one bike and trail/mountain riding is your thing, this is a great choice.

Great Trail Monster
Exceptional Handling, Fox Ctd Is Good, Solid Components, Versatile, Stable at high speeds, Climbs well, Great geometry, Stable On Slow Climbs
100mm Stock Stem Is Junk, Xr3 Tires Are Junk
Descending, Climbing, Trail riding
I had a cheaper Trek hard tail 29er and upgraded to this for the full suspension. I was worried that the susp + large wheels would kill the handling. But nope! This bike handles every bit as good as my hardtail. I can go up tight twisty switchbacks even with my 21.5" model.
The suspension is amazing. "Trail" mode is what I use the most but I put it in "climb" during gravel grinds and "descend" on any technical downhill. The bike climbs extremely well in "Trail" and "climb" mode with no noticeable loss in power from the suspension compressing. Even when climbing in "descend" mode the bike doesn't bob too much and you'll notice a huge increase in traction.
i am not an intense downhiller but my speed and confidence raised dramatically with this bike. I notice that I can "pump" the trail and gain more speed by compressing the suspension in the corners and dips.
This bike is extremely capable on all types of trails - singleltrack, downhill, slalom, gravel grinding. Will it downhill like a true downhill bike? No. Will it be as fast as a Superfly on singletrack? Probably not. But it will switch between the two better than any other bike.
Balanced, Durable, Versatile, Great Combo Trail To Road, Smooth shifting
Seat I Replaced, Heavy, Grips
Commuting/City, Mountain Biking, All Around Everywhere, Road Biking
I have owned around 11 +/- Trek Cycles over the past few years and this one is the ride I have been looking for, it's a great combo. Trail to Road it can move out on the road as well as it can on the trail.
I recommend this cycle with 5+ Stars out of 5+. Great buy on my 2014 as well. I am very happy to say the least.

I am revising my initial review where I mentioned that tires slip on wet. Well, now I found the correct tire pressures and is doing well. I eating the trails.

Great bike but tires lack grip on wet!
Tough, Fast and Smooth Ride, Nice Breaks
Slips On Steep Climbs, Sliips On Wet Conditions
Single track, Climbing, Cross country
I am a mountain bike fan. I enjoy riding on the mountain trails. This bike is great, fast, reliable, moves over every obstacle on the trail. One downsize is the tires that lack grip on wet conditions like muddy terrain and wet roots. When cornering over wet roots sometimes the tires slip bad loosing control.
