Come celebrate with your fellow Houstonians! With events and celebrations of all types happening all over Houston, there's sure to be something for any type of rider. Be sure to show your support for Houston cycling by proudly displaying your BIK sticker! BIK stickers are available FREE this month at any Bike Barn location, just mention Bike Month.
May 3rd - First Thursday benefiting BikeHouston
First Thursday on May 3rd benefits BikeHouston with Texas Gold Sprint'em Bike races, live music in the Art Garden, and beverages compliments of Deep Eddy Vodka and Saint Arnold Brewing Company. Shops will open late and music along the block all night.
May 8th - Light of the Phoenix Ride
BikeHouston wants to make sure everyone riding around at night is able to be seen. Teams of riders will visit different parts of the city to handout lights to people riding without them. BikeHouston will provide the lights, so just bring a friend or come make a new one on this ride, and let's have some fun!
May 11th - Bike to Work: Sugar Land
The City of Sugar Land and Shape Up Fort Bend will celebrate National Bike Month on Friday, May 11th with the 7th annual Bike to Work Day and 5th annual Bike to School Day. Join residents, neighbors, and friends for a celebratory ride to Fort Settlement Middle School and Town Square.
May 13th - Cyclofemme
CycloFemme is a Global Women’s Cycling Day to celebrate women on bikes. For the 6th time in Houston, women take to the streets on a casual ride for women on Mother’s Day. Bring your friends, mothers, daughters, and sisters. Bring the women you want to inspire to ride!
May 16th - Ride of Silence
On May 16th, 2018 join cyclists worldwide in a silent, slow-paced ride in honor of those who have been injured or killed while cycling on public roadways. The ride aims to honor those who have been injured or killed, to raise awareness that we are here, to ask that we all share the road, and to educate all Houstonians of the fact that bicyclists have a legal right to the road.
May 17th - Fit Clinic: Common Bike Fit Issues
Discover the secrets to a comfortable fit! Come to our free fit clinic on May 17th at our Katy location to find out about the common fit issues. Knee pain, saddle, back, feet and more are all usually a symptom of a improper fit. Our fit expert, Cynthia and her team will share the little secrets that can make a big difference to your comfort!
May 18th - Bike to Work Day: Downtown
Come show your support for biking as transportation with this year's Bike to Work Day on Friday, May 18th. Starting at 7am and hosted in Hermann Square in front of City Hall, the event includes a 3 1/2 mile casual-paced ride as well as yoga, vendor booths, and more! Enjoy the benefits of the bike as a commuting tool and help us celebrate cycling throughout our great city.
May 20th - Sunday Streets: Montrose
Cigna Sunday Streets Houston is an initiative to promote and improve the health of Houstonians. Cigna Sunday Streets Houston opens a stretch of streets normally reserved for cars and other vehicles to allow cycling, walking, dancing, socializing and provides a family-friendly opportunity to be physically active. Come out and enjoy Houston!
May 27th - Bike Month Finish Line Party @ The Phoenix
Come celebrate the end of Bike Month and feast at The Friends of the Phoenix's inaugural ALL YOU CAN EAT Crawfish Boil, a festive activity for all, complete with a waterslide and bounce house! Funds benefit BikeHouston Light Distribution Program & Chávez High School after school programs.
