2016 Specialized Stumpjumper FSR Comp 29

XC light and all-mountain capable, the Stumpjumper FSR Comp 29 will lead you to total trail domination. It all starts with an M5 hydroformed aluminum frame with a tapered head tube for strength and a PF30 bottom bracket for exceptional stiffness. From there, the RockShox Revelation RC 29 fork provides 140mm of smooth travel, while the Fox Float CTD Evolution rear shock and FSR suspension smooth out the gnarliest of trails with 135mm of travel. You'll have the right gear no matter the terrain thanks to the SRAM 2 x 10-speed drivetrain and the Roval 29-inch wheels that roll smooth and fast. With Specialized tires hooking up in the corners and a Command Post dropper post, you'll breeze down enduro courses and climb with confidence anywhere on the mountain!

the bike is sick

Comments:

This bike rips. Well buit. Fast. Playful. Smooth ride with the 29's. thou 29" wheels are too big for me @ 5'10" & a lil' too big for Alifia's technical side. Still love the bike. mine came sram crank, i would like the crank a bit stiffer.

A really nice bike. I'm a road rider who is approaching 70 and who likes to get in the dirt every now and then. Because of my age I take it a little easy out there. My mountain biking is mostly fire trails and single track, nothing real technical but certainly enough to challenge one. For me this bike does the trick. I appreciate the handling, design and build of this bike. It climbs really well with the compact gearing, I don't miss not having a triple, it smooths out the trails and gives me a lot of confidence. The 29er wheels really roll nice. I've put close to a hundred miles on it with no complaints. SRAM shifting, c1 brakes, fox shocks along with the wheels are all working great. As a matter of fact I seem to be doing a little more mountain biking these days.

Comments:

Love this bike. Its well made and does most everything I want it to do when riding trails and all mountain; not the best XC bike if lightweight and speed are your thing. Its a little heavier than I would like so pedaling long distances up steep hills is a chore. The Formula C1 brakes that came on mine are awful and I wound up replacing for Shimano XT with ICE rotors. That's the biggest downside to a bike that costs $2600 and ruined a potential 5 star rating. Overall, this bike is better than most in this price range and just a great design over many of the competitors.

    Comments:

This my first 29er FS bike, coming from a Marin 26er hardtail. Before getting the Specialized Stumpjumper FSR 29er Comp, i did a lot of reading and researching. I compared the Camber to this and I believe that the Camber is an awesome bike on its own, but the Stumpjumper is a league of its own. When I got this, the difference was day and night! I rode on the same trails as I did with my 26er hardtail and if there were rock garden sections that I needed to dismount from the hardtail, I easily cruised on the Stumpy 29er. Going uphill was a breeze with my Stumpy as long as I practice good cadence and proper shifting management. There was a section of a local trail where even if I had engaged the tranny gear on my hardtail, it was not enough and i still had to dismount and push my bike up. But on the same section with my Stumpy 29er, I managed to clear it without going in full low gear; I was stocked! I discovered the joys and thrills of downhill with the Stumpy. It was fast and stable; the disc brakes have awesome stopping power. When I was a bit afraid to go fast downhill with my hardtail, I was literally flying on my Stumpy. It was lighter than my hardtail by a bit. One inherent weakness of Specialized bikes, Stumpies included, is the proprietary sizes of the rear shock. The stock Fox Triad II is awesome for my taste, since I'm new to FS bikes. But what if I want to upgrade later? Another weakness for me is the cornering ability of the 29er. I have to go slow and wide on switchbacks whereas on my 26 bike, I was nimble. But maybe when I get use to it and I bacome a better rider, I can more or less cut corners easily with my Stumpy. I am 5'8", 160lbs and i got the medium. I highly recommend the Stumpy 29er Comp! Overall, a really nice bike for my needs!

New to mountain biking, I am motocross rider. I tested other bikes too. So far this is the best of them all. I tried it in one of the trail here in Houston, and it performed the way it should.
