Frequently Asked Questions

Can I walk in and rent a bicycle?

Yes! We do walk-ins and online reservations.

Are reservations required?

No, reservations are not required. However, we strongly encourage you to make a reservation. Otherwise, we cannot guarantee that we will have a bicycle available for you. Go online to here to make a reservation.

Is a deposit required when I rent a bicycle?

We do require a $50 deposit to rent one of our bicycles and we do require a valid U.S. ID or passport. The renter is responsible for any damaged caused to the bicycle while in their possession.

What if I want to keep a bike all day or longer?

We only do daily rentals. All bicycles must be returned the same day.

Can minors rent a bike from Bayou Rentals?

Minors may ride our bikes, but the bikes must be rented by a parent or legal guardian. You must be 18+ to legally rent a bike. Everyone under the age of 18 years old must wear a helmet per city ordinance.

What kind of bicycles do we rent?

We rent hybrids, cruisers, tandem, and kid bicycles.  We also rent kid trailers and tag-alongs.

Do I need to wear a helmet?

What if I have a flat tire?

Call us at 713-955-4455 and we will come and either fix the flat or replace the whole bicycle.

What if I am involved in an accident?

If there has been an injury, please dial 911 first. If you are qualified to administer first aid and there is a need, please help out to the limit of your abilities. If appropriate, contact the police, as well. As in any accident, exchange information with any other affected party and collect contact information from witnesses. When appropriate give us a call and we can take it from there. If needed we might be able to come pick you and the bike up.

What should I wear while riding one of our rental bicycles?

We suggest you to wear something casual and comfortable, appropriate dress for the weather conditions is advised. We also recommend wearing closed toed shoes; sandals or flip-flops are discouraged because of the high chances of toe injuries as well as the chance that they may fall off your feet while riding creating a safety hazard.

What if I have questions about how to operate the bike?

No problem! Please feel free to ask any of our employees for help when you pick up your rental. We'll make sure you are comfortable and confident with operating our equipment.

Are there any unsafe areas that I should not ride?

As in any big city, there are places that we discourage our riders from visiting, we will tell you where these places are. Our rentals are intented for riding Buffalo Bayou. Stay on bike paths and do not ride on jogging trails or grass. We do not recommend leaving the park. But if you do, ride in safe areas and obey all traffic laws.
